Chevrolet Silverado: Storage
This vehicle has airbags. A rear seat is a safer place to secure a forward-facing
child restraint. See Where to Put the Restraint.
In addition, the vehicle has a passenger sensing system which is designed to
turn off the front outboard passenger frontal airbag under certain conditions...
Warning
Do not store heavy or sharp objects in storage compartments. In a crash,
these objects may cause the cover to open and could result in injury...

System Operation
The vehicle has a Traction Control System (TCS) and StabiliTrak/Electronic Stability
Control (ESC) system. These systems help limit wheel spin and assist the driver
in maintaining control, especially on slippery road conditions.
TCS activates if it senses any of the drive wheels are spinning or beginning
to lose traction...
After frontal and seat-mounted side impact airbags inflate, they quickly deflate,
so quickly that some people may not even realize the airbags inflated. Roof-rail
airbags may still be at least partially inflated for some time after they inflate.
Some components of the airbag module may be hot for several minutes...

Leaving children in a vehicle with the ignition key is dangerous and children
or others could be seriously injured or killed. They could operate the power windows
or other controls or make the vehicle move. The windows will function with the keys
in the ignition, and children or others could be caught in the path of a closing
